The action envisages the implementation of the infrastructure required to supply electricity from shore to vessels during their stay in port through an OPS (Onshore Power Supply) system. The scope includes electrical connections, transformation and conversion equipment, quay connection infrastructure, the cable management system, and the cross-cutting safety and environmental management measures necessary for its execution and commissioning.

EALINGWork Gijonport implements an Onshore Power Supply (OPS) system at La Osa Quay, specifically designed to meet the power and energy demand of the port’s target traffic. This solution makes it possible to replace onboard electricity generation with shore-side supply during port calls, effectively reducing the environmental impact associated with vessels staying at berth.
The project is directly based on the exhaustive technical, environmental and economic studies developed in the previous phases of the EALING Global Project. In this way, EALINGWork Gijonport materializes the definitive step from strategic planning to the effective implementation of port electrification in a TEN-T Core port.
